Ports extended squad got their first competitive game in over a year and a half off to a winning start , defeating Athy 2nds by 35 points in Athy.
Athy started the stronger an dominated possession in the first 10 minutes scoring a nicely worked try after 7 minutes.
The tables turned then largely due to Dylan Strong's phenomenal strength close to the line scoring 3 tries in a row, all converted by Nicolas Doggett which left the half time score 7-28.
Port grew into the game with Darragh Perry, Chris McCormack and Doggett excelling in the backs alongside Adam Kelly, Eoin Worrell and Peter Dunne all making their senior debuts.
Chris McCormack and captain Stephen Oakley both got second half tries which left the final score 5- 40.
Peter Dunne picked a shoulder injury and the club wishes him all the best in his recovery.
The senior 1xv play Clane this Sunday in the Leinster League Div 3 cup in Lea road. Winner moves onto the next round .
