December Newsletter

Dear members of Portarlington Rugby Club,

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible month filled with festive spirit, community support, and great rugby. From magical moments with Santa to thrilling matches and successful fundraisers, December showcased the best of what our club is all about - teamwork, dedication, and generosity.

This newsletter highlights the events, achievements, and hard work of our players, volunteers, and supporters. Thank you for being part of our journey. Let’s carry this momentum into the new year and continue to grow, both on and off the pitch.

Santa Comes to Portarlington Rugby Club
We kicked off the festive season with a magical evening at the club. A huge thank you to Portarlington Credit Union for their generosity in donating selection boxes for the kids. An even bigger thank you to everyone who donated to Temple Street Hospital on the night - your kindness is invaluable.
A special shout-out to Sadie, Doorman, and Maisie for organizing an incredible bake sale, raising €722 for Temple Street Hospital. Well done!

Jersey Swap Success
Thank you to everyone who contributed to and participated in our jersey swap. It was great to see old gear find new homes while supporting the club.

Towns Cup Draw
Our president and secretary attended the Towns Cup draw last month. We’ve drawn Midland Warriors away in the first round, scheduled for January 26th. Let’s show our support for the team as they gear up for this exciting challenge.

Fake Wedding Fundraiser
The fake wedding was a phenomenal success! It was a night filled with fun and laughter.
Thank you to:
- Eamonn Bracken Menswear for the suits.
- C Dawg Productions for the visuals and posters.
- All the talented musicians.
- Niall and the Railway Bar staff for hosting us.
- Rio’s for the fantastic food.
A massive thanks to everyone who attended and supported this incredible fundraiser.

Ann Fitzpatrick Cup Final
On December 29th, we celebrated the return of the Ann Fitzpatrick Cup. This final marked the culmination of the first full year of the North Midlands competition.
Ann played a vital role in the formation of our senior ladies' team, and it was a fitting tribute to have this cup contested once again in her honour.

Minis Update
The first half of the Minis season wrapped up in December. The players are progressing well under the guidance of their coaches and improving every week.

Youths Update
Our youth teams are now into the second half of their season. Both the girls' and boys' sides are performing well, with several players representing North Midlands.

Senior Teams Update
Men: The team have been playing very well with some great wins these past few games. They’re preparing for the first round of the Towns Cup on January 26th.
Women: The team are training hard and performing well on the pitch. New players always welcome

Here’s to a fantastic December! Thank you for your support throughout the year. Let’s kick off January on a high note!

Yours Truly,
The Executive Committee
